Morning Oatmeal Shake

This morning I decided to try something new from my normal fruit smoothie for breakfast. We were low on frozen fruit, and I had just seen a recipe for an oatmeal drink that looked pretty easy, so I thought I’d give it a try…

It’s delicious!! And so simple to make. It’s very light (perfect for days like today when it’s already 80 degrees when you wake up!), and just the perfect amount of sweetness. I bet it would be great for dessert too with a simple cookie and whipped cream on top!

Here’s the recipe:

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk (I used soy)
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • pinch of salt
  • ice cubes

Cook the oats (2 min in the microwave is fine) and let cool briefly. Put oats in the blender with milk, honey, salt, and ice cubes and blend for 1 minute. You can add cinnamon to the top if you want.

Let me know what you think!

  1. I remember the day you came to work with vanilla yogurt, and the ‘just bunches’ sprinkled and I think banana! It was delicious and everytime I go shopping for cereal and see that box, I think of you! I love your blogs, typical sweet Maria!! šŸ™‚
